Johan van de Gronden is CEO of PUM Netherlands senior experts, a large volunteer organisation deploying (mostly retired) executives to support the sustainable growth of small and medium-sized enterprises in developing countries and upcoming markets. Before joining PUM Johan was CEO of the Word Wide Fund for Nature in the Netherlands for ten years and member of WWF’s global executive team.
Prior to WWF Johan held senior management positions in both private business and public administration, among others at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Dutch Foreign Service. Outside his home country of the Netherlands he has lived and worked in Suriname, South Africa and Denmark. Johan holds a masters in Philosophy from Leiden University and publishes books and philosophical essays on man and nature.
He is the vice-chair of the Netherlands comittee of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), a member of the editorial board of OneWorld and a member of the supervisory board of the Early Music Foundation. He is married, with two daughters.
