Johan van de Gronden is chief executive of the Dutch Cancer Society. Before joining the Dutch Cancer Society Johan was CEO of PUM Netherlands senior experts.
Prior to PUM Johan was CEO of the Word Wide Fund for Nature in the Netherlands for ten years and member of WWF’s global executive team.
Johan held senior management positions in both private business and public administration, among others at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Dutch Foreign Service. Outside his home country of the Netherlands he has lived and worked in Suriname, South Africa and Denmark. Johan holds a masters in Philosophy from Leiden University and publishes books and philosophical essays on man and nature.
He is chair of the Netherlands comittee of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), a member of the editorial board of OneWorld and chair of the supervisory board of the Early Music Foundation. He is married, with two daughters.
